About The Spiral Accord

The Spiral Accord is an ongoing space opera with romance at its heart. Follow Corran aboard Tempest through strange worlds, dangerous mysteries and relationships that shape the man he becomes.

Regan Andrews tells the story through the books, short fiction and accompanying music.

The Universe

Its central traveller is Corran, a human from the fiftieth century with the greater part of his autobiography missing. Aboard Tempest, he crosses eras and parallel worlds, building a present while investigating his past. Raven, MINO and the wider crew bring their own histories and choices to stories of memory, responsibility and the uses of power.

Start with First Breach and follow the numbered books. Corran’s Journal offers shorter, self-contained encounters. Book guides and recaps are available separately, so you can choose how much background to read.

Life aboard Tempest

As the crew grows, so do the ties between them. A new attraction can test an old loyalty. The person Corran trusts with his life on a strange world may be the one he struggles to face when they get home.

The name of the saga

The Spiral Accord takes its name from the agreement encountered in Book 2: a treaty between language and reality. Its safeguards connect the power to shape a world with the ability of a mind to consider and refuse what is proposed. Across the adventures, memory, identity and the consequences of choice give that question a human scale.

Originally from New Zealand and now based in Brisbane, I bring together interests in storytelling, science, technology and music. I have a Doctorate in Computer Science, specialising in AI.

I’ve been writing since around 2009. Much of the material that became The Spiral Accord began as Doctor Who fan fiction. Developing it into a universe of its own has opened up new creative directions: different histories, different possibilities, and more room to explore the relationships and choices at the heart of these stories.

My influences span television and games, including Doctor Who, Final Fantasy VII, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Battlestar Galactica. I’m drawn to their sense of wonder, complicated characters and willingness to ask difficult questions. With The Spiral Accord, I’m developing my own cast, worlds and continuing story, with romance and human connection at its centre.

The project grows from my original writing, with its creative direction, characters and story decisions guided by me. The current edition also uses AI-assisted prose revision and expansion, alongside AI-generated artwork and assistance with website design and development. The accompanying music is my own work.

The central character is Corran, a traveller with one human life and a missing past. That gives me room to write the same traveller across mysteries, political stories and smaller adventures, with Raven and MINO bringing their own perspectives to the journey.
