The opening situation
After a quiet interval in which the travellers explore their changing relationships, Tempest brings the company into an investigation of institutional disappearance in Hong Kong. Corran works undercover as Professor Smith. The threat reaches through systems that decide who counts, making patient observation and independent witnesses as important as technical intervention.
Who travels here
Corran, Raven, the earlier MINO backup, Roxi and Mara arrive together. Jun is a local researcher; Inspector Lau, Professor Chan and local witnesses shape the investigation.
A question to carry into the story
Look for the gap between a clean record and a truthful one. The city is a place where people live, not merely a backdrop for a system failure.
