Carnival of Glass
A celebration whose audience wants more than a performance.
Full Version
The opening situation
Miridell’s crystal city welcomes a rare Carnival. The travellers arrive among spectacle and pleasure, but the relationship between performer and spectator soon becomes troubling. This is a compact, uncanny adventure in which mirrors and applause offer less reassurance than they first seem to.
Who travels here
Corran, Ava, Cal, Anna and Valentina.
Pleasure and exposure
Corran and Valentina’s ongoing intimacy makes questions of admiration, uncertainty and protection personal. Their desire does not remove disagreement or give either the right to decide for the other.
The Carnival turns enjoyment into leverage. Attraction, shame and the appetite to be admired become vulnerabilities; the quieter moments ask what can still be chosen freely.
A question to carry into the story
Pay attention to who is watching, who is missing, and whether enjoyment has become an obligation. The mirrors turn questions of identity into a physical danger.
