What happened

Vox Mechanica’s pursuit of perfect order intersects with Serath’s acceleration and an old design attributed to Corran by records whose claims do not restore his personal memory. Raven’s doubles and the Unmade expose what the project cannot accommodate: contradiction and choice. Raven’s decision is active, not an instruction supplied by Corran.

Where the book leaves us

The mechanical scheme is disrupted and its remaining seed receives a final farewell aboard Tempest. In the quieter aftermath, Raven and Corran share a Paris afternoon and acknowledge their desire without declaring an enduring love before it has developed. Celeste Marchand ends her affair with Corran and leaves on her own route after completing her provenance work. Mei Arden chooses another shared night, discusses affection and jealousy frankly, and boards Tempest for a defined journey with her instruments and her own room. Elias remains in monitored stasis, the key stays separately contained, and Kettle retains the unresolved vitrine watch in London. The immediate mechanism ends; other people and responsibilities are not erased by departure.
