Gharros
Stone, silence and a return Corran once swore he would never make.
Arrival
The Man Who Buried Serath opens on a planet barely retained in old records. Tempest arrives quietly. Raven steps onto precisely fitted hexagonal stone beneath a violet sky; Corran hesitates at the threshold. The apparent emptiness is already meaningful because he remembers being here before.
A place built to remember
Corran calls Gharros a Memory Sepulchre, a sacred archive associated with Continuants. A black obelisk contains an indentation shaped for a palm. His touch reveals a descending stair. Architecture makes memory something the travellers must physically enter, and something from which leaving may prove more difficult than arriving.
Absence as evidence
Below the surface, Corran finds a blank tablet among records. Raven asks why an erased inscription would leave its stone behind. The question directs attention to the difference between a missing name and a vanished past. The first chapter makes that difference consequential before offering the travellers certainty.
Reveal the connection to Serath in Chapter I
A robed figure welcomes Corran to the Vault of the Unspoken and identifies him as an Executor. A sealed sarcophagus brings his earlier burial of Serath into the conversation. The claims made about the burial and what lies inside become matters for the book to investigate; this entry does not treat the first explanation as a settled account of the ending.
