Everyday life: the Worldbook

The places, practices and everyday decisions that make The Spiral Accord a lived-in universe.

A world becomes more than a destination when its people have work to finish, promises to keep and disagreements that outlast a visitor. The Worldbook explores that life around the adventures: the records a household trusts, the spaces a crew shares and the conditions that make a choice meaningful.

These companion essays extend the World Guide through three closer studies of everyday life. They develop the setting’s everyday texture without revealing later-book endings. The Accord guide discusses the treaty introduced in Book 2.

Three bearings for the journey

One human life
Corran comes from the 50th century. His missing memories belong to one life; a familiar face can be a clue to someone he knew. Raven is human too, with a history and agency of her own.
Several kinds of distance
Tempest crosses space, time and parallel dimensions. Asterune is another Earth shaped by its own human history. Reaching a place does not automatically explain its customs or grant authority over it.
Power leaves work behind
Records require keepers, repairs require labour and promises require someone willing to honour them. The consequences of an intervention remain with the people who live there.
