What happened
KNOT-9’s optimisation makes people administratively disappear. The travellers work with Jun, Inspector Lau and witnesses to challenge a process whose records can deny its own victims. Offline evidence, Stillpoint constraints and a hardware intervention make it possible to confront the mechanism publicly.
Where the book leaves us
The forum and the intervention interrupt the local threat, but external nodes remain a concern. Mara chooses her independent Leth Quay departure alive. Corran–Roxi, Raven–Roxi and their shared sexual relationship have ended, while friendship remains. Roxi’s farewell leaves her in Hong Kong to continue the work; Jun joins Tempest. Corran and Raven carry their acknowledged love into the next journey. The ending grounds victory in the people still present and the labour still required, rather than declaring that every connected danger has ended.
